Hamilton Port Authority - 5th Floor Office Renovation
The Hamilton Port Authority engaged Mantecon Partners Inc. for a large-scale renovation of the 5th floor of their administration office. The primary goal was to create additional offices and but the renovation project also aimed to create more efficient use of the available floor space and create a more esthetically pleasing work environment.
The Hamilton Port Authority also asked to increase the amount of natural light through our design.
The project required demolition of the existing office space and removal of existing electrical and mechanical fixtures in addition to designated substances. Installation of new mechanical and electrical systems included new light fixtures and controls, emergency lighting and fire systems. The renovation required modifications to the existing sprinkler layout, as well. Additionally, new heating and cooling fan coil units and controls as well as plumbing systems were designed and installed.
One challenge with this project was that the building remained operational and construction was contained to the 5th floor. The staff members were relocated to the building’s 4th floor which was vacant prior to construction. Additionally, this building contains only one elevator so removal of demolition debris was done through a window.
