McMaster - Automotive Resource Centre
Built entirely in the Camco warehouse existing footprint, the original 30 foot structure has been transformed by Mantecon Partners to a 2-story, 80 000 SF research centre.
As McMaster continues to expand its research and development reputation, the Automotive Resource Center will support research and development efforts in a variety of key industrial areas. In particular, the facility will have a focus on the automotive sector while being used for testing automobiles and their components including engines, motors and a variety of battery types.
The existing façade was renovated to incorporate new overhead door openings and backlit screening. The project is also being designed to LEED Silver Certifications. The facility consists of labs; office space; conference facilities; common areas; washrooms; and corridors; as well as workshops, test benches and teaching laboratories. The facility will be used for testing of automobiles and automobile components including running engines and motors and a variety of automotive battery types.
