Mondelez International Hamilton Plant
MONDELEZ INTERNATIONAL HAMILTON PLANT
Formally Cadbury Adams Inc, Mondelez International worked with members of Mantecon Partner’s structural electrical, and mechanical engineers on a major renovation on their Hamilton plant.
A key consideration in this project was the products being used, from paints to sealants; they had to be of food grade quality. In the same way, all building procedures had to meet strict plant requirements.
Methods such as welding were not allowed. This forced the engineers and contractors to reevaluate how to construct and find new ideas that would still produce a safe structure. The major obstacle of this project was undergoing two additions and a renovation all while the plant remained 100% operational. The project was a success due to exceptional communication between the engineers, contractors and designers throughout the entire project.
The project involved two separate additions. The first being 1,400 square feet with a 4,000 square foot kitchen built inside the existing plant, a renovated parking lot, and completed landscaping. There was also a 14,620 square foot addition with the capability to expand to two stories. Along with the large additions that took place renovations to the entire plant included reinforcing the roof foundations, raising a 413 square foot roof portion, and relocating the sprinkler & gas mains and cooling tower & pipes.
